For almost a year, Glen Cove High School has hosted its very first i Am My Sister Club. The students and faculty have been so supportive of the club and the organization. We are so excited to have the opportunity to support them just as they have supported us over this last year.

i Am My Sister is hosting a College Kickstarter for the Glen Cove HS young ladies and gentlemen that will be going away to college this coming fall. We’re coming to celebrate their accomplishments and make sure they are equipped with everything they need to make a successful transition into their new role as college freshmen.

It’s a party y’all!! A party with food, music, and of course gifts. Every student will leave with a basket stuffed with the school and dorm necessities to get started off right. They will also be matched with a mentor to support them through their first year and beyond.

We are asking you to partner with us! Make a tax-deductible donation to help with basket supplies. Donating is easy! You can go online to our website https://iammysister.org/donate/ , use Zelle: info@iAmMySister.org, or Cash App: $iAmMySisterInc. You can also purchase an item from the Amazon Gift Registry.

Your support doesn’t only help the students, but also parents and caregivers. Sending kids off to college although an exciting time can also be a financial struggle. Help us make the load lighter, so they can focus on what lies ahead.

I hope this E mail finds you well and that you had a happy Easter holiday.

I thought you and others who remember Abel might like to know that his Permanent Resident Application was approved and he was given a Green Card. It arrived in the mail the week before Easter. I waited until we were out for dinner on Easter Sunday to give it to him at the restaurant. Here are some photos of the moment when he realized what was in the envelope. Naturally he is very happy. We appreciate the IAC's support and prayers.

Marco continues to be very happy in Guatemala. I divide my time between my place in Hudson and my apartment in Guatemala City. Marco and I have spent many long weekends traveling around Central America. When I return there in the summer he and I are going to open a " coffee house " in San Antonio near the Pacific Coast. He talked me into it because it sounds like an interesting adventure.

We never forget you all. When I do get to a meeting in the future I will have gifts for everyone.

Best to all, Bill, Marco & Abel

    April is #NationalFairHousingMonth

National Fair Housing Month celebrates the passage of the Fair Housing Act in April, 1968, a national law that prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental and financing of housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, and gender. The Act was later amended to include protections for people with disabilities and families with children.

Fair Housing Month reminds us that the principle of fair housing is not only state and national law, but a fundamental human concept and entitlement for all people. As a community we welcome all good neighbors, recognizing the contributions and richness tendered by a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds, colors, ethnicities or religious traditions.
