Glen Cove IAC Meets at Rosewood on the Sound
The Glen Cove IAC held its monthly meeting at Rosewood on the Sound in Bayville. Rosewood on the Sound, formerly Jones Manor on the Sound, was sold two years ago. The new owners have completely renovated the assisted living facility and have obtained an enhanced license from New York State which allows them to accept wheelchair-bound residents. Rosewood on the Sound also offers a daycare program. At the meeting, IAC President Carolyn Willson presented Arlene O’Dell, who recently retired as Executive Director of the Glen Cove Youth Bureau with a plaque and thanked her for her two decades of service to IAC. The Glen Cove IAC includes community leaders representing a variety of human and social service agencies throughout Glen Cove. It reflects Glen Cove’s rich cultural, religious and ethnic diversity and meets regularly to identify and address changing needs in the community. This network has resulted in numerous projects and collaborations that benefit Glen Cove residents on a daily basis. The Glen Cove IAC held its monthly meeting at St. Rocco’s Church in Glen Cove. Coleen Spinello told IAC members about St. Rocco’s rich history and contributions to the Glen Cove community. Nicole Del Giudice of the Melillo Center spoke to IAC members about the mental health services that are available through the Melillo Center.

IAC Receives SNAP and Medicare Updates at The Atria
April 2015 – The Glen Cove IAC recently held its monthly meeting at The Atria in Glen Cove. Members heard from two guest speakers. Maritiza Quintero of the Health and Welfare Council provided an update on the SNAP (formerly Food Stamp) program, while Adam Abraham of Metro Jewish Health System spoke about Medicare and managed long term care assistance. He said the Medicare program is complicated and he encourages individuals to begin exploring their options prior to reaching their 65th birthday.
Glen Cove IAC learns about Glen Cove Boys and Girls Club and Rotary International
The Glen Cove IAC recently held its monthly meeting at the Glen Cove Boys and Girls Club. Melissa Rhodes, Executive Director of the Club provided an overview of the Club and the services it provides to youth in the Glen Cove area. Gabor Karsai also spoke about the many programs offered by members of Rotary International and highlighted some of the projects that have been spearheaded by Rotarians who live or work on Long Island.

January 14, 2015- The Glen Cove IAC recently held its monthly meeting at the offices of the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce. Phyllis Gorham of the Chamber provided an overview of the Chamber and the services it provides to member businesses and the Glen Cove community. Jean Domingo-Keogh, Education Coordinator for The Safe Center LI spoke about the many programs offered by The Safe Center LI to educate the public about rape, sexual violence and human trafficking and the services that The Center offers to victims of these crimes.

The Glen Cove IAC celebrated the December holidays with a festive breakfast at the Glen Cove Mansion. Dr. John Imhof, Nassau Commission of Social Services provided IAC members with an overview of the services offered by DSS to Nassau’s most vulnerable residents.
